SolarPanelRecycing.com (SPR), a solar module recycling company headquartered in North Carolina, USA, has launched the first dedicated double-sided solar module recycling line in the United States. The company claims that its proprietary technology can clean and separate the glass of double-sided components from other materials, with a recovery rate of 99% or higher.
SPR points out that traditional single-sided component recycling lines have low efficiency in processing double-sided components, especially in glass recycling. To address this issue, SPR has developed a dedicated recycling line for double-sided components. Its technology can clean and separate all component materials, including silicon, glass, metal, and plastic, and reintroduce each material into the manufacturing supply chain to avoid mixing materials into unusable waste.
In May 2024, SPR opened a 300MW recycling center in Breckenridge, Texas, to comprehensively recycle and reuse all solar equipment materials, including components, inverters, cables, and batteries. This is SPR's fourth processing and receiving plant in the United States, with other facilities located in North Carolina and Georgia.
Meanwhile, SOLARCYCLE, another solar recycling company in the United States, announced at the end of last year that it would build a 5GW plant in Georgia with the ability to recycle 10 million modules annually.
