Germany: New round of photovoltaic auction awarded 317MW capacity, bid price increases

In the latest photovoltaic auction held in February, the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) awarded 317MW of capacity, mainly for rooftop photovoltaic projects.

In the latest photovoltaic auction held in February, the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) awarded 317MW of capacity, mainly for rooftop photovoltaic projects.


Compared to the previous auction, the winning bid price in this round has increased, with a weighted average winning bid price of € 0.091 ($0.098)/kWh, compared to € 0.0904/kWh in the previous round. Among them, the lowest bid price is € 0.079 ($0.085)/kWh, and the highest is € 0.0969 ($0.10)/kWh, still lower than the capped price of € 0.104 ($0.11)/kWh.


The photovoltaic projects in this auction are mainly distributed in the following federal states:


North Rhine Westphalia: 78MW


Lower Saxony: 49MW


Saxony Anhalt: 35MW


Bavaria: 33MW


The next round of rooftop photovoltaic and noise barrier photovoltaic auctions will be held on June 1, 2025.


The electricity price ceiling set by the Federal Network Agency for photovoltaic auctions in 2025 is: € 0.104/kWh for rooftop photovoltaic projects, € 0.068/kWh ($0.073) for ground-based photovoltaic projects, and € 0.09 ($0.097)/kWh for innovative photovoltaic projects.
